The Industry Advisory Council (IAC) was created by the American Council for Technology in 1989 to provide an objective and vendor-neutral forum where government could collaborate with the private sector IT industry.
Membership in IAC is open to any private sector company interested in the government IT marketplace.
IAC is governed by an Executive Committee elected by the IAC member companies. The Executive Committee provides strategic guidance and oversight for IAC and reports to the ACT Board of Directors.
IAC is a member-driven organization and IAC members are encouraged to become active. Numerous volunteer and leadership opportunities exist within IAC. These include, but are not limited to,
- Conference planning committees that are responsible for putting together the annual Small Business Conference, Management of Change Conference and Executive Leaderhsip Conference.
- Shared Interest Groups where industry representatives provide advice and assistance to government on specific subjects ranging from acquisition to cloud computing
- The Program Committee that plans and sponsors over 60 presentations annually by government executives
- Professional development programs such as Partners and Voyagers
- Awards committees responsible for recognizing excellence in government IT programs
- Standing committees of the Executive Committee
- Special working groups
