Please join the ACT-IAC Volunteer Corps on Saturday, June 30, 2012 as we support community based organization ALIVE!
ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically), is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of volunteers from over 40 religious congregations and the community working together to help those in need in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1969, ALIVE is the largest private safety net, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community.
ALIVE! serves thousands of Alexandrians annually with shelter; low-cost early childhood education and childcare; financial help for rent, utilities, medical care and other critical needs; emergency food; and deliveries of donated furniture and houseware.
Our team will support the Last Saturday Food Distribution—A 5-day supply of surplus fresh produce and staple foods distributed by volunteers once a month to serve about 600 families referred by social service agencies and the ALIVE! congregations.
ACT-IAC volunteers are needed to help bag and distribute nonperishable food and fresh produce at one of two locations in Alexandria: Ladrey Senior Residence (300 Wythe Street); and Church of the Resurrection (2280 N. Beauregard) on June 30th. Time is between 8:30a.m. - Noon.
To register and identify which location you would like to work at goto………. Volunteer space is limited, therefore we can only accept the first 30 names; 15 at each assigned location. Registration will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.
