Nominating Committee Slate for IAC Executive Committee Announced

MEMORANDUM TO THE IAC MEMBERSHIP

In accordance with the IAC bylaws, an election will be held in May to select individuals to fill the following vacancies on the IAC Executive Committee: Executive Vice Chair (1 position); Vice Chair for Finance (1 position); and Vice Chair at Large (4 positions). The individuals elected to the position of Vice Chair for Finance and the At-Large positions will take office on July 1, 2012 and serve two year terms. The individual elected as Executive Vice Chair will assume office on July 1, 2012 and become the IAC Chair on July 1, 2013 and Past Chair on July 1, 2014. Each IAC member company in good standing at the time of the election will be entitled to vote in this election and the Point of Contact for the company will cast the votes.

As required by the IAC bylaws, a Nominating Committee was appointed to identify qualified candidates for the IAC Executive Committee and a call for nominees was sent to the entire IAC membership. The Nominating Committee reviewed each candidate’s qualifications in the context of IAC’s goals, objectives and programs, as well as the roles and responsibilities of Executive Committee members. After careful deliberations, the Committee nominated the following individuals.

Note: There are four vacancies to which the top four vote getters will be elected. If Mr. Davis (who was elected to a two year term in 2011 as Vice Chair at Large) is elected to the position of Executive Vice Chair, there will be a fifth vacancy to be filled by the fifth highest vote getter. If he is not elected as Executive Vice Chair, he will remain on the Executive Committee as a Vice Chair at Large.

Petitions

Pursuant to the IAC bylaws (Article VI, Section 2), additional individuals may be put before the membership as nominees for the Executive Committee provided that a petition to such effect is received no later than April 30 and that such petition is signed by no less than 5% (or 27) of the member companies. Only the company’s official representative (designated point of contact) may sign the petition. If you wish to nominate yourself or some other individual via petition, please review the qualifications and responsibilities of Executive Committee members. If you wish to obtain the list of IAC official points of contact (POC) for use in completing a petition, contact Don Becker at dbecker@actgov.org. Petitions with the requisite number of signatures must be delivered by mail or in person to the IAC office located at 3040 Williams Drive, Suite 610, Fairfax, VA 22031 by 5 P.M. on Monday, April 30, 2012.

The Election

Information about each of the candidates will be distributed to the IAC membership on May 8, 2012 and campaigning will begin at that time. Each candidate will be provided time to make a statement at the May 16 IAC membership meeting. Voting will begin on May 17 and conclude on May 30, 2012.
