Course Description:
Many managers (and employees) feel successful in the current work environment.  They may intellectually understand the advantage of virtual teams, but moving from a successful “known” to a potentially better “unknown” is a challenge -- often requiring us to “step into our fear”.

This workshop provides the knowledge, skills, and tools to successfully build, maintain, and lead a virtual team.  It gives leaders the confidence that their virtual team can be just as successful, if not more so, as a traditional office team.

Leaders who merely provide a rich suite of technology tools and a policy for virtual work will ultimately fail.

Leaders who deliberately focus on strengthening the foundational interpersonal elements of performance planning, communication, and relationship building will dramatically increase the success of their virtual teams.  Invest in a half-day to learn how to fearlessly implement  the four best practices of virtual teams.

What You Will Learn:
Gain the confidence and tools to implement your virtual team successfully by:

1.  Creating the climate for Success
      a. Learn how virtual teams mirror conventional Teams
      b. Build and maintain a climate of trust

2.  Applying the 4 Best Practices of Virtual Teams
      a. Results focused goals
      b. Open lines of communications
      c. Visibility
      d. Responsiveness

3.  Developing strategies to resolve virtual team challenges

Why You Should Attend:
The only way to measure whether someone in a distant location is productive is by the value they create.  That’s the way we should measure anyone’s contribution.  However, productivity is often measured by the amount of time a person is in the office visible to peers and their managers.  It’s a classic example of an easy measure.  It’s easy to measure how long they’re in the office.  It’s hard to measure whether someone produces value.  Learn how to be successful and confident in how to overcome these barriers.

Format:  Half-day seminar session.  This is followed in 6 weeks with a 2 hour on-line group coaching session to review outcomes, discuss lessons learned, and create action plans for success.

 Agenda:
• Making the case for virtual teams
• Identifying the challenges
• Developing strategies for success
• Implementing the 4 Best Practices
