Please join us for the ACT-IAC U.S. Cyber Challenge on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm at Marriott Metro Center, 775 12th Street NW, Washington, DC 20005.

The mission of the U.S. Cyber Challenge (USCC) is to significantly reduce the shortage in the cyber workforce by serving as the premier program to identify, attract, recruit and place the next generation of cyber security professionals.  The USCC's goal is to find 10,000 of America's best and brightest to fill the ranks of cyber security professionals where their skills can be of the greatest value to the nation.

One of the great challenges shared jointly by ACT-IAC government and private sector members is the difficulty in trying to find people to hire with deep, technical, hands-on cyber security skills that will provide the greatest benefit to the government, and in turn, to the American public.

On March 6, 2012, you will have a chance to see a promising approach to addressing both the supply and the demand for such skills and professionals- through national competitions and leagues that enable high school and college students and professionals to demonstrate their skills and to be guided into internships, scholarships and employment programs.  The program is called the U.S. Cyber Challenge and, since it was announced by NSA, FBI, and DHS executives two years ago, it has engaged more than 3,000 capable young people, a large fraction of whom have extraordinary skills and would not have been given a chance to shine were it not for the U.S. Cyber Challenge and its partners and sponsors.

This program is specifically designed to connect government and industry Information Technology (IT), Human Capital and Program executives.  Through participation in this program, participants will collaboratively engage with top federal, state, U.S. Cyber Challenge, as well as with industry executives responsible for developing and implementing the frameworks, the programs, the challenges and the standards designed to ensure our national cyber security success.

You will have opportunities, through in-depth workshops, to collaborate with government, USCC leadership and other industry executives in establishing appropriate performance metrics to determine program successes. This is your chance to directly influence these workforce assessment planning frameworks and to explore the appropriate criteria and standards for making the strategic hiring decisions for your cyber security workforce.
