SIG Review Survey
: View Response #4
How familiar are you with IAC Special Interest Groups (SIGs)?
Very familiar... I hold a leadership position with one of the SIGs
Do you participate in SIGs? If so, why do you participate? What do you see as the barriers to involvement in the SIGs?
Yes... as a participant and in a leadership position for one of the SIGs
Are the SIG addressing topics of interest to you? What value do you derive? What additional value would you like to derive?
SIGs value has increased during the last 3 years and I do believe they provide excellent value to our Government partners in ACT, as well as our Industry partners in IAC. For ACT, the SIGs provide a focused group of industry leaders that can provide valuable insight and perspective on the most pertinent topics facing our Gov't agencies today.
For the IAC members, the SIGs provide an excellent venue for interaction and participation in formulating strategy and direction for the industry.
Are there any other areas that the SIGs should address that would increase the value of the SIGs?
The current planning process with the SIGs needs to be restructured so that additional value can be realized through:
1) having the elected leadership for the upcoming year contribute to the SIGs objectives and plans. Currently, plans are established prior to the election and provide little opportunity for the elected leaders to provide input.
2) having a more devine role for the SIGs in MOC & ELC. Some efforts were made in the past year to gain input fromt the SIGs for conference content at MOC & ELC, but little benefit was actually recognized. A more defined role will allow utilization of more resources and a better alignment to the activities of IAC during the year.
Do you recommend SIG participation to your colleagues? If not, why and what would the SIGs have to offer for you to recommend SIG participation to your colleagues/organization?
I always recommend SIG participation. It is the best way to stay active and add value.
What other thoughts/ideas would you like to share with us?
